Many thanks to all the organisers for a most excilent event yet again, a many thanks to the lads of the SAS for taking the heat off of us for awhile, a big thanks to the rest of the Jeds, you boys did bloody great, the terrain was a killer with all the weight that we were carrying, I just wish that I had managed to make it back to you all Saturday night, Duff hip had kept me behind at the German camp and then when I was dropped off I gave up trying to find you all as I got lost in the woods, made camp and then struck out at around half 7 in the morning to go cause trouble, spying on the German camp from within their own wood was fun, the linking up with the rest of you for the assault got my adreniline pumping again.

Many thanks to the Heer for looking after me pre and post interigation, if I had been asked why I was here I would have said for No Duff reasons but the question just never came up, the Kubelwagon could have been parked atleast another 6 ins closer to me as well, loads of space!!.

My legs, back and hips are killing me but I had a great sleep last night.

Many thanks again to all.

"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

...we noted that we hit 3 and got out of there sharpish. If there were 3 , its confusing even now coz i think i hit the first guy and head shot hit the other 2 , but our jed team say they killed all 3 AFTER we were gone.....

I think you were all shooting at me to start with as fire came from all angles very quickly and I did get hit very early and only got mediced a little later. Surprised you didn't hear me shout 'sani' as I called it good and loud in the absurd hope that dozens of Germans miles away in the camp might hear and come running to our rescue. :slap:

Well, it appears they might have heard that shout, or more likely the sounds of battle. Within about 5 minutes, the place was crawling with Jerries!

Yep, was good for me!

Highlights were Caeser Company building a very spiffing fortification out of sundry bits of tree and lovely flowers (German Military Flower arranging!) and Seanebabes' fire skills! We had a good camp and the whole experience was as authentic as really it could be.

Thank you to the organisers whose hard work allowed such an event to actually happen! And thanks to Bedsenherts for the loan of some nice German webbing and a great coat that was highly appreciated on Sat night!

As Wladek put in his post, the trigger time for us was a very secondary consideration and I only managed to get off about 3 shots in anger, but we did capture Webby so that was all allright! :D  I enjoyed the mine sweeping and patrols!

I'd have been happy just with some rides in the Land Rover!

Been reading with interest all this talk of a German Ambush on the patrolling Jeds when it was actually 3 of us that had got split from our patrol, were lost and looking for a way to cross the river. The moving jeds without realising it were silhouetting themselves walking along the fence line. We were in dark woods and the bright field to the side of them meant that the dark moving shapes made a good target. Thinking that Jeds were in small groups we engaged them, but were soon overrun by the rest of the group. 3 Bolties against 5 semi autos, we didn't stand a chance. I had just been mediced when I recieved more fire and that was the end of that. Good battle but certainly no Ambush.

Three squeezes of the trigger of the MP44 (one kill resulting) on Saturday and two rounds from the K98 (no kill) on Sunday. Now I know why we couldn't get sponsorship from 'Blaster BBs' for this event!

(Somewhat off topic but be sure to stock up with ammo for Devil's Hill in October, its going to be hard fighting all the way  )

However feeble you might think it was, it marked the end of the Jeds as a fighting force on the first day! :|

You were unlucky. I'd just come up from the Jerry camp with a wagon full of troops in order to carry out a sweep further up the site. It was only when you got spotted that we piled in.

Oh yeah, congrats to those troops for legging it down that road at full pelt then swinging off into the woods to carry out an extended line sweep towards the Jeds. Great drills! :)

The Germans who bumped the Jed's have no idea of the knock on effect that it had on the SAS operations. We were supposed to RV with the Jed's at 1700hrs, before carrying out close target recce's on your positions. We had been 100% successful up until then and, were feeling pretty confident. Because we only met up with 2 very tired fugitives at 1900hrs, our plans and tasks were laid waste. So, well done for that Germans, your quick actions had far reaching consequences that you may not have been aware of and we had to retask to a lesser role for the night. You denied us valuable information, which meant our plans for sunday also had to be changed.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Heh, that was aaaaaages after first contact! First reports came back of contact to the south of HQ and a larger squad went back to first contact point. No info came back while I was in camp. After a while I gathered a couple of vehicles full of men and we set out a line on the middle road in the wooded area. Patrolled for the road twenty mins or so. No movement seen either down to the bottom road or up to the bottom road. Decided to extend a line to clear northwards through the trees from middle road to top road. Got halfway and it was clear no one of consequence was there. Returned to middle road.

Jamie drove up with orders from CO, who by this time was on the top road, to sweep up northwards to him. I sent Jamie back with a negative, area already swept and we would sweep downwards to the bottom road instead. Very slowly we tracked down from the old Churchill's German camp until we were onto the bottom road. Then noticed movement on our left - a column of men moving up on the edge of the forest tree line. Definitely allies - bergens and radio packs. I'd been seen unsurprisingly, I didn't make any effort to hide our presence, we were trying to dominate the area not set sneaky ambushes! One of allies waves to me. Rather shocked I called up the next man to me and asked him to confirm what I'd seen. Enemy waves to me again.

I move back behind a tree and call troops in - explain enemy seen and we are to move at a pace diagonally to try and make up ground and hit them before they reach the road. Running hell for leather (and arse over tit) we track them up to the road where they bunched up clearly not wanting to beak cover across the road. Open fire, enemy run across the road as Kermit arrives in transport, we now have two prisoners while the transport group crash into the woods to follow up. Hopefully the CO was still on the top road and intercepted enemy crossing the road to the SAS base. Extract prisoners on foot and in transport, return to base to gloat.

Hmm. That must have been a different engagement, Chommers. After the initial firefight, we spent a couple of minutes medic-ing the wounded and deciding upon our course of action. We were then engaged by Anton (not Rogers), who wounded and captured myself and Webby - the rest got away. I believe it was Wildfire who waved to you.

That's correct, Anton were the second attack following reports of contact, taking two prisoners - the rest were intercepted in their attempted get away as I related, Kermit coming in at the end.

I expect you are right, first contact was by a bit of one squad then followed up by another (but not Benson Bison Brutus whatever my squad was called as we were on break).

well well, isn't that the picture. We were on break too, got a two minute call up whilst we were snoozing in our tents. Typical SS, get all the blummin best treatment whilst the poor Heer do all the hard work.
